This Luxury SUV Can Tow Even More Than the 2022 Ram 1500 – MotorBiscuit

Pure Autos
Do you need a vehicle that can tow a whole lot but you’re torn between an SUV and a pickup truck? You might have an even more difficult decision than you realize if you’d be happy with either a luxury SUV or one of the best pickup trucks out there. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and the 2022 Ram 1500 each offer a whole lot of towing capacity. So which can tow more, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer vs the 2022 Ram 1500? Let’s take a look at how much each of these can tow so you can decide which vehicle is right for you.
RELATED: Would You Pay $100,000 for a 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer?
The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer can tow an astonishing amount for an SUV according to Jeep. It can handle up to 9,850 pounds. That’s if you choose the 6.4-liter V8 engine that can make 470 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. Of course, you’ll sacrifice a little bit of fuel economy with this setup. You’ll get just 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.
There’s another engine choice that delivers more horsepower and torque but loses a little bit of towing capacity. Choose the 3.0-liter twin turbo I6 that makes 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. You’ll lose 100 pounds of towing if you choose this option.

The 2022 Ram 1500 can tow even more than the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, but it isn’t so much more that it’s obviously the better choice. Properly equipped, the Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,500 pounds. What does properly equipped mean? That’s the Ram’s 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine. That makes 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. You have to choose the one with eTorque though, as the similar engine without eTorque can tow just 11,610 pounds.
There’s a Ram with a slightly less powerful engine. That’s a 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque that makes 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. This can tow up to 7,730 pounds. There’s also a 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine that makes 480 lb-ft of diesel torque and can tow up to 12,560 pounds.

Okay, so the 2022 Ram 1500 can tow more than the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Does that automatically make it the better choice? That really depends on just how much you need to tow and how often you’ll need that towing capability. There are very few similarities between these two vehicles other than their high towing capacity.
You’ll certainly pay more for the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and get less towing capability. The Grand Wagoneer price starts at $86,995. That’s unquestionably high, but if it’s a luxury SUV you’re looking for, you’ll certainly get it in the high-end Grand Wagoneer. Conversely, the 2022 Ram 1500 is a steal in comparison. Its price starts at $36,675. Of course, you’ll get a lot less for your money in terms of features, but if all you need is good towing capability, you’ll get it with the Ram.
Your budget may be the deciding factor in the 2022 Ram 1500 vs 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Yet if money is of no concern, you may be torn between these two impressive vehicles. If you want something refined with an excellent towing capacity, the Grand Wagoneer may be your best bet. If you really need to be able to tow a lot, then the Ram 1500 is definitely the truck for you.

Doug DeMuro Calls the 2023 Lexus RX "An Ultra-Popular Luxury SUV" – MotorBiscuit

Pure Autos
“This is the new 2023 Lexus RX and soon you’ll be seeing it everywhere,” Doug DeMuro said in his newest video. Upon reviewing the Lexus sport utility vehicle, DeMuro called it an “ultra-popular luxury SUV.” But this isn’t the SUV you remember from high school, especially the all-new RX 500h F SPORT Performance.
While Doug DeMuro is a pretty popular YouTube personality, seeing him review the 2023 Lexus RX is exciting. Not only does it mean people are interested in the new Lexus RX SUV, but more automakers must be paying attention to DeMuro as well.
Lexus says it wanted to maintain the attributes that made the RX SUV so popular: a comfortable cabin, a quiet interior, a refined ride on the road, and an enjoyable experience overall. It sounds like Lexus is staying in its reliable luxury SUV lane. DeMuro says the RX has been one of the most popular luxury SUVs “in existence” for the last 25 years, so why change what works?
DeMuro says that the four new powertrain options are a reflection of how popular this Lexus SUV is. The regular RX350, hybrid RX350h, RX450h, and the new RX500h.

The 2023 Lexus RX sport utility vehicle will get tons of new options for buyers, like six different trim levels. These are Standard, Premium, RX-first Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Handling, and F SPORT Performance. The new 2023 Lexus RX 500h F SPORT Performance variety will have 367 hp and the new DIRECT4 drivetrain for the first time.
“This is really the first time Lexus has gone down the true performance route with the RX. There were F SPORT models before but it was largely cosmetic. Now, you have this RX500h that really does have some big power and some impressive performance numbers.”
Beyond that, the touchscreen on the interior of the 2023 Lexus RX has received a major upgrade. In previous versions, drivers had to use the remote touch control with a mouse pad of sorts. Now, a 14-inch responsive touchscreen takes its place. DeMuro says it is an excellent infotainment system, which is a source of contention for many new car buyers.
What do you think of the 2023 @Lexus RX?
DeMuro says the other standout item in this new vehicle is the interior. He notes that the materials used are high-quality and even says it is beautiful. “It has gorgeous materials, a gorgeous layout everywhere you look.”
While the 2023 Lexus RX has plenty of changes, Lexus hasn’t released pricing on the new version yet. In the video, DeMuro reviews the top-of-the-line RX 500h, price unknown. Like most cars, America’s favorite luxury SUV will probably get a price bump, especially on the top-level trims. Keep an eye out for pricing on all of the 2023 Lexus RX as we get closer to a release date.

Is the Best Family SUV Powered by Electricity? – MotorBiscuit

Pure Autos
Families come in all shapes and sizes. Some families have one parent and one child, while others have two parents, grandparents, and several children. There are many excellent options for the average-sized family (two parents and two to three children) when looking for the best family SUV. What might surprise you is that this vehicle could use electricity. Let’s take a look.
When Ford first announced an electric version of the Mustang, you could hear a collected groan in the audience. Once they chose to make it an SUV, many driving purists slapped their foreheads in disgust. Now that the Mach-E is here, most who have seen or driven this SUV, love it. This electric crossover checks off all the boxes for most drivers.
Green Cars certainly feels good about the Mach-E. They awarded this EV the best Family EV for 2022. The variety of configurations makes it easy to find the right model to drive, and the choice of powertrains means you have the diving range you need. Power levels reach somewhere between 266 and 480 horsepower to give you the Mustang feeling you want.
The second-place finisher for Green Cars is the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the first EV in the Hyundai lineup to ride on a dedicated electric platform. The Ioniq 5 offers 303 miles of driving range and several configurations to give you the power and layout you want, including an AWD version.
We see a different story when we turn to U.S. News and World Report for their electric SUV rankings. This publication has seven mainstream family-sized EV SUVs ranked as follows:
While this might change things a little bit for you, most electric vehicles offer the driving range you need and the versatility desired. For your average-sized family, these could be the best SUVs to drive, and you’ll never need to stop at the gas pump to fill up.
Thankfully, U.S. News didn’t stop at the mainstream models and offered several options for you to enjoy electric luxury driving. When you want a higher-class ride and avoid the gas pump, these seven models offer the driving package you want to enjoy.
This list gives you several options with EVs of various sizes and power levels.
If you don’t think there are enough options for you to find the best family SUV among the electric models, you will soon. Top Electric SUV tells us there are 42 models on the way, not all of them SUVs, but most are, which will give you more choices in this category.
Whether you want to drive the Ford Mustang Mach-E or wait for the Chevrolet Blazer EV, there’s a clear path toward electric SUVs for the future; will you drive one of them?
If you think electric vehicles are boring, the next article is sure to change your mind.

Toyota Reveals New Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid SUV In India – CarScoops

Following a teaser campaign, Toyota unveiled the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder in India. The electrified SUV, offered in both mild-hybrid and full-hybrid forms, was developed in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki which will soon unveil its own version.

Styling-wise, the all-new SUV combines a Suzuki-esque profile and proportions with modern styling cues inspired by the current Toyota SUV range. Despite sharing a portion of its name with the Urban Cruiser, it is a larger model designed to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, and the Skoda Kushaq.

The front end is characterized by the “Crystal Acrylic Grille” that is mostly covered and features chrome accents splitting the thin LED DRLs in half. The actual headlights are mounted lower on the bumper, next to the large central intake which closely follows Toyotas’ design language.
At the back, the graphics on the C-shaped LED taillights are reminiscent of the C-HR, with a chrome bar connecting them. The turn signals and the reverse lights are vertically mounted on the rear bumper, which gets a large skid plate for a more rugged look.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder measures 4,365 mm (171.9 inches) long, 1,795 mm (70.7 inches) wide, and 1,635 mm (64.4 inches) tall, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm (102.4 inches). This makes 370 mm (14.6 inches) longer than the regular Urban Cruiser, and nearly as long as the EU-spec Toyota CH-R. Actually, the dimensions are nearly identical to the Suzuki S-Cross which makes us believe that the models are based on the same platform.

Inside we find a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen combined with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Suzuki’s drive mode select switch is also present on the center tunnel. The dashboard and the doors have soft-touch inserts, with a brown shade matching the duo-tone leather-upholstered seats, at least on the display model in the official press shots.
Equipment in the high-end trims includes many cool features like the panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, head-up display, 360-degree camera, wireless charging pad, ventilated seats, rear AC vents, and rear USB charging ports. In terms of connectivity, there are remote control features using a smartphone or a smartwatch, and voice control compatible with Google Assistant and Siri. Safety is not as advanced as in European models from Toyota or Suzuki, with 6 airbags and no ADAS features.

The Hyryder is offered with two different electrified petrol powertrains. The entry-level model comes fitted with Suzuki’s “Neo Drive” unit, combining the 1.5-liter K-Series engine with a mild-hybrid 12-Volt ISG system and a small 6Ah Li-ion battery. Its combined output is 101 hp (75 kW / 102 PS) and 135 Nm (99.6 lb-ft) of torque and can be mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic, sending power to the front axle.
The self-charging hybrid is a different story, as it comes fitted with Toyota’s own full hybrid technology – thus featuring the familiar Hybrid badge on the profile. The setup includes a Toyota-sourced 1.5-liter engine, a stronger electric motor, an ISG, and a larger lithium-ion battery. The hybrid powertrain produces a combined 114 hp (85 kW / 116 PS) just like in the EU-spec Yaris and Yaris Cross, while torque is 141 Nm (104 lb-ft). Power is transmitted to the front axle through an e-Drive transmission. Toyota claims that the Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid is the most efficient in its class, with the electric motor doing most of the work in urban driving.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be produced at the Bidadi plant in Karnataka, India, alongside its upcoming Suzuki sibling. Besides India, the SUV will be exported to other markets. Pricing for the hybrid model will be announced closer to the launch.

Secret Service Have Been Gossiping About Trump's SUV Outburst for a Year: CNN – The Daily Beast

Two Secret Service sources told CNN that they heard about accounts similar to Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony in the months after Jan. 6—including from the driver himself.
Media Reporter
Days after the Secret Service pushed back on the stunning testimony that former President Donald Trump violently freaked out during a Jan. 6 presidential SUV ride, CNN reported on Friday that accounts of Trump lunging at his Secret Service agents have spread around the agency for the past year.
According to two Secret Service sources, stories similar to ex-Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s account—which she testified under oath was told to her by former Trump staffer and current Secret Service official Tony Ornato—circulated among agents in the months following the incident. One source, for instance, relayed that Trump profanely demanded to be driven to the Capitol and even “lunged forward” at one point.
“It was unclear from the conversations I had that he actually made physical contact, but he might have. I don't know,” the source told CNN. “Nobody said Trump assaulted him; they said he tried to lunge over the seat— for what reason, nobody had any idea.”
Another source who spoke to the SUV’s driver, meanwhile, said that while he didn’t hear about any physical altercation, he was told that Trump verbally berated his Secret Service detail after his Jan. 6 speech. According to Hutchinson, Trump yelled at his detail: “I’m the f-ing President. Take me up to the Capitol now!”
While not disputing that Trump demanded agents take him to the Capitol, a Secret Service official said earlier this week that Ornato denied telling Hutchinson the story, and Secret Service agent Bobby Engel—who was in the vehicle—refuted that Trump lunged at an agent or tried to grab the steering wheel.
The agency has also said that Engel and the driver are prepared to testify before the Jan. 6 House committee under oath. The credibility of Engel and Ornato, however, has come under question recently, as they’ve been described as Trump’s “yes men” and at least one former Trump aide has called Ornato a known liar.

New car, truck, SUV sales plunged in the second quarter – Axios

U.S. auto sales dropped sharply in the second quarter, according to estimates, as automakers continue to deal with supply chain problems, declining consumer sentiment and rising interest rates.
Why it matters: The auto industry remains a significant engine of the U.S. economy — and a decline in sales may portend a broader pullback in consumer spending.
By the numbers: All but one of the major automakers posted double-digit sales declines in the second quarter, according to estimates by car-research site Edmunds. Automakers will release official second-quarter figures beginning Friday.
Between the lines: The global semiconductor chip shortage continues to restrict production capacity, limiting supplies of new cars, trucks and SUVs. Automakers have prioritized higher-profit models, Krebs says.
Be smart: Sky-high prices — now averaging more than $47,000, according to Kelley Blue Book — are also hurting sales, driving more buyers into the used market.
(Editor's note: Cox Enterprises, owner of Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book, is an investor in Axios.)
